They won 7, lost Z, and tied 1 out of 10 games played. The Pan- thers, with their 7 wins, took second in the Big Horn Basin Conference POWELL OPPOSITION 6 Laurel 6 6 Worland Z7 50 Basin 0 31 Lander 13 Z8 Thermopolis 0 2.0 Lovell 19 19 Cody 13 Z7 Riverton 13 0 Greybull 2 Greybull was chosen as the Homecoming game and the Buffs held the Panthers to a 0-0 tie during the downpour of rain. After the game was over the officials found that the Big Horn Basin Conference rules state that no Big Horn Basin football Conference game can end in a tie and if there is a tie at the end of playing time their is to be a California playoff to deter- mine which team is the winner. So 10 days later the Powell Panthers once again met the Greybull Buffs on the Panther field. Each team got four downs alternating with the other team. Powell pushed deep into the Greybull territory on the first four downs when the Buffs on their last down assed the ball well into the Panther territory, Powell then ran the ball all but l 1 2 yards back to the 50 yard line. Thus Powell lost to the Buffs by a score of Z-O. With this second loss against the Panthers, Powell tied Greybull in the Big Horn Basin Conference for second place. 44
