English Department Succeeds With Mini-Courses The young chicks of the English Department eat lunch. l 8 The English Department, for the second year, is offering mini-courses to all students. These courses involve all phases of English, from literature to film-making. For those students planning a maior in English, there are such offered classes as Advanced Composition and Journalism. The department has provided the students with a variety of interesting courses this year.

Mr. Freudenberger Mrs. Donahue Mr. Chandler Guidance Department 'fa 1, 13? -- E Y Secretary Mrs. Carson Secretary Mrs. Powers The Guidance Department, as usual, has been frantically busy with student schedules, college applications, and schol- arships. Somehow they still managed to find time for everyone. Helping sopho- mores become acquainted with the school, rearranging iunior's schedules, and help- ing seniors with their college plans were all part ofa normal day in the Guidance office. Our apologies to Mrs. Mary Jane Stone, a popular counselor, whose picture was not available. 17

The biggest change being the new half- year classes, which combined quarterly mini-courses. All of the subiects are very interesting, having such titles as Social-Cultural History, Foreign Policy, Political Parties, etc. One and half years of United States history are now required by the department. Mr. Gerald Davis has done a very admirable iob as the new Department Chairman, filling in the shoes of former chairman, Mr. David Wallace.
