J. ...x:'.,,,,,,.,.,,:,g,, 6LClfiAg New on our faculty this year was Mr. Clayton Baker fat lefty, from Versailles, Indiana, who introduced the study of Spanish to our curriculum. Before entering Ball State, Where he earned his AB. de- gree, Mr. Baker had served a year and a half in the Navy. Last year he was an exchange student in Spain, studying Spanish at the University of Madrid and teaching English in a private school. His interests include litera- ture, music, movies, swimming, and hiking, and he hopes in the future to teach in a small col- lege, or perhaps enter the U. S. diplomatic service. From 1940 to January of 1943 Miss Jean McCarty was teacher of girls' physical ed in P.H.S. Then came the war, and Miss McCarty enlisted in the WAC's, serving aboard a hospital ship in foreign waters and being dis- charged in 1946 as a first lieu- tenant. Now, as Mrs. Robert Harring- ton flower leftj, she is again on our faculty as teacher of girls' physical ed. Her outside inter- ests include her husband, three and one-half-year-old son and six-year-old daughter, as well as the family television center. Some day she hopes to write a book. When asked what kind, she replied, Oh, a story based on my army experiences. Her motto is 'tLove, laugh, and la- bor. Our high school librarian this year was Miss Sarah Swaim flower rightj, from Montpelier, Indiana. She received her B.S. degree from Ball State last year with majors in library and so- cial science. Besides being li- brarian, she teaches a class in U. S. history. She enjoys reading, boating, and sewing. She plans to be- come Mrs. Roy Kindlesparger in June.
