jadlhy MRS. William Reid left Portland High School to join her hus- band who is stationed with the armed forces in Florida. Her po- sition was filled by a rearrange- ment of classes rather than by a new teacher. Mr. Hiatt took over an English class, and Miss Stahr assumed the junior and senior high school music classes, while most grade school teachers managed the teaching of music in their own rooms. MISS Jeanne McCarty. physical education instructor in the Portland city schools for the past three years. was accepted into fhe VVomen's Army Auxiliary Corps and left for Daytona Beach, Flor- ida. after the first semester. She was replaced by Mrs. J. Russell Hiatt, a graduate of Ball State Teachers College with the class of 1941. In addition to physical edu- cation, Mrs. Hiatt also taught emergency arithmetic.

gilding MISS Jane Louise Fulton, art su- pervisor in the city schools for many years who resigned for a well deserved rest. was greatly missed by all her students. QWe pay tribute to Miss Fulton in an- other section of our bookl. She was replaced by Miss Mae Louise Kohr from South Bend, a graduate of Indiana University. Readily ad- justing herself to the ways of P. H. S., Miss Kohr filled her po- sition with aptitude and efiiciency. MR. ROBERT JONES. who had been supervisor of instrument- al music last year. joined the Unit- ed States Navy immediately after school closed last spring. His va- cancy was filled by Miss Emily Stahr, who holds a B. M. degree from DePauw University. She di- rected the band and orchestra and gave individual lessons.
