Flower: Rose Colors: Red and White SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Small, wide-eyed, and bewildered--this is the picture that we as freshmen gave--the entire year was spent trying to find the right classroom and trying to stay out of the way of those huge upperclassmen. As sophomores we began to feel a part of the high schoolg we were no longer laughed at but, reluctantly accepted as the class of 1964. When we approached our junior year we were filled with the excitement and anticipation of selling at football and basketball games, and even having our own dances. There was the magazine sale, and the Junior Play which kept us even busier. In the fall of 1963 we reached our climax--we entered the new Portland High School, and in 9 months would be its first graduating class. We were now under the leadership of Larry Ackerson, Presidentg Judy Clark, Vice Presidentg Suzy Moyer, Secretaryg Mary Quinn, Treasurerg and Loren Arnesen and Jeanette Bandfield as Student Council Representatives. We had a winning football team that fall, we won the magazine drive and broke all records for the R 8: O Subscription Drive--this added to our already soaring pride. We sponsored numerous record hops, the Homecoming Dance, and the Christmas Dance. These two were successful. As winter approached we began to concentrate solely on that week in April, when we would all load up, and take off for our trip to Washington. Our Trip was followed by Baccalaureate and finally our Graduation Night when we could finally be on our own and Set the world on fire. 12
