VonPalan: At the Homecoming celebration we had a float, on which we worked hard. Our candidate for queen was Judy Todd. During football sea- son, we sold at the Vermontville game and made a tidy sum on it. In the fall, we had a hayride party at Shot- well Bridge. We had a scrap iron drive, which made our finances higher. We had a bake sale in the middle of winter at the dairy. During basketball season, we sold at the Saranac game. The biggest event in our exciting year was our dance, which was called ‘April Showers.” We have all enjoyed our Sophomore year at Portland High and feel sure it would not have been a successful year without the help from our able sponsors, Mrs. Sherwood and Mr. Bullen.
