While there we got some new ideas for the paper. Three of the staff members, Alice Sumner, Joan Smith, and Betsey Stewart wrote articles for Young Editor’s Day. These articles appeared in the Lansing State Journal. The Portlight was published every two weeks and continued to be set up in the three column style. Mrs. Piercefield was the sponsor again this year and we would like to thank her for guiding us so ably.

This year with careful planning it was possible to make the Annual Staff self supporting with a small amount of money left to put in the treasury towards future annuals. The Senior Class has worked in complete co-operation with the staff which was selected at the beginning of the fall term, to make the ‘‘5] Cardinal’’ a success and one that we are proud of. This book tells a story, the story of P. H. S. 1950-51. We hope that all who read it will enjoy this story as much as we have enjoyed putting it together for you. 1 Three Juniors were chosen to represent their class on the Annual staff that they might have a clearer idea of how to organize their yearbook next year. They were Joan Irrer, Carol Traynick, and Don Cassel.
