PORTLAND HIGH SCHOOL Portland's first school was a small log house situated where the present depot now stands. This log school was destroyed by fire at an early date. The village soon purchased a house on Looking-Glass Avenue as a temporary school building. ln 1880 a brick school was built. This building was also destroyed by fire in 1918.
