The student body chose as president Bill Willemin. Under his fine leadership the council has had a busy and worth while year. The outstanding project was the supervision of the noon activity program. The ping pong tournament, in charge of Lowe!] Anderson, proved an interesting innovation. The Student Council members were hosts to all high school students at a Christmas Dance in the gym the afternoon before Christmas vacation. The highlight of this event was the large decorated Christ- mas tree and Santa Claus. We co-operated with the Cheerleaders for Portland High School’s first homecoming on October 25th. We hope this will be an annual event. The Student Council had charge of arrangements for the Teen-Time Dance sponsored by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Our paid assemblies were well attended. At the Student Council Honor Assembly this spring, awards were presented to students outstanding in Citizenship, Scholarship, and Activities. Members this year were Connie Webert and Thelma Seldon, representing the freshmen; Betsy Stewart and Homer Peacock from the sophomores; Gloria Leach, Marvin Seal, and Tom Buck from the juniors; and Virginia Spohn, Bill Reed, and Ray Hendee from the seniors. Representation from the school organi- zations were Bill Willemin from Band; Pat Lawless, F.F.A.; Lowell Anderson, Varsity Club; Carolyn Sullenger, Home Ec. Club; and Marilyn Richards, vocal music. 26
