Senaor Class Prophecy
On Nby 26 l984 two prosperous lookang men boarded the space shap Mar Sat for a week end trap
to Mars and Saturn They were Mel Bateson and Rog Abke partners an a 20 O00 acre chanchnlla ranch
an the southwestern desert lands of what was once known as Texas They were on a trap to look over
land on Mars wath a vaew to expandang thear actavataes
As they entered the shap they were greeted by an old classmate the new Space Control Commander
Carl Hagemeyer who was makang a routane anspectaon tour of the planets He anformed them that they
would fa nd other old classmates already on board the shap and that they needn t worry about havang any
trouble gettang there because the shap was constructed and safeguarded by Mr Travas Tefft owner and
presadent of the Tefft Shap Corp The equapment and controls as well as the style of the shap was created
and desagned by the corporatlons very capable chaef desagner Benlaman Keeran
They hurraed aboard sance at was blast off tame and the shap had a very taght schedule to make
It as hard to make up lost manutes Carl saad as the farst flaght from earth to Mars takes only 58
manutes and the second lap to Saturn takes only 58 manutes more
They had no sooner seated themselves when Mr James Delph an old fraend of thears greeted them
As everyone knows he was lust recently elected Democrat Nataonal Chaarman and hopes that someday
a member of has party wall agaan occupy the Whate House
Well out an space they decaded to make themselves comfortable so they turned on their space T V
and were gust an tame to catch the lO 000th news cast of John Cameron McPherson Just last week he
was rated as the Unaverse s top news commentator Has report was very anterestang to them as at pac
tured the Presadent pannang enough medals on Azlmaral Willaam Nkeeker to fall a space shap Admaral
Meeker as commander ofa large submarane fleet of the U S Navy
usual he was flartang wath the femanane passengers
They also met Marcella Stean, who was on her way to a dude ranch on Saturn for a couple of week s
vacataon She has a posataon as secretary to the presadent of Willys Stratospherac Jeep Corp whach
turns out the Jet Jeep for commercaal travel on Saturn
They were surprased to see Norma McCone as the very effacaent and helpful stewardess and she
took great paans to make thear trap more comfortable and enloyable
Gbservang a very quaet lady seated an one corner they asked Norma who she was Norma told them
that she was an old fraend of thears Mzaralyn Maller who had lust been chosen as the typacal housewafe
of l984 and had been gaven the trap as part of her praze
Nearang Mars, they decaded to get up and walk around proachang the rear of the shap they
happened to catch a glampse of the freaght room and notaced that at contaaned a lot of movae making
equipment The guard told them that at belonged to 30th Century Fox and that the well known movae
darector Robert Dauterman, was makang a 4D productaon on Mars
Returnang to thear seats Rag bumped anto a man wath has hat pulled over has eyes and has coat collar
up Both has hat and strange black carryang case were knocked to the floor Why Mel saad aren
you Max Layman'-7 l aan tsayan nothan as all the answer he gave them for thas and many other
questaons asked ham Puzzled they returned to thear seats Notacang everythang that happened, Mass
McCone told them that he was Max Layman and that he was a secret couraer for the F B l and that

Hillbilly Courtship
Ma Peppin and deaf old Poppy Stilsby have sworn to
shoot each other as their mountain feud rages on. Poppy s
son, Luke, and Ma's daughter, Emmy, are in love with
each other. Hillbilly entertainers, a temperamental ltallan,
Louis Cattaro, and the Wild Irish Rose, Bridget O'Flanmgan
arrive to further complicate matters and some wild moments
occur before the feud is ended and everyone settles down to
live happily ever after.

The School Carnival
The Portage Tawrship School Camival was held at our
school on Thursday, October 22.
The purpose ofthe camival was for the upper classes to
mdce money for their Senior Trip and for the elementcry grades
to purchase equipment for their room. Another purpose of the
carnival was for the community to get together and have a good
time. There were many concessions, stands, and games at which
to test your skill against that of your friends.
An amateur contest was sponsored by the Senior Class. There
were many fine entries and the iudges were Messrs. Frank Seiple,
leoncrd David, and Wade Shinew.
Janice Haines and Janet McPherson won first prize with an
accordion duet and dance, Peggy Bursiek, singing a solo, wan
second prize, and the third prize went to Elnore Lindemeyer with
an accordion solo.
Perhqas the most entertaining feature of the evening's pro-
gan was the appearance of Nts. Davidson, impersonating Kate
Smith. She sang several numbers and led the entire audience in
the singing of "God Bless America ". She was accompanied by
Mr. Spockey. Also, during the progrun, there was a raffle
sponsored by the Student Council.
All in all, the evening was a success, bringing in daout
5400.

Christmas Fun in '91
The Christmas operetta, "Christmas Fun in '91 ", was enioyed by
the students and parents on Monday night, December 21, 1953.
The operetta was directed by Mr. Spackey, who was ably assisted
by Nts. Davidson, Mrs. Eckert, and Miss Bochman.
The grade school students put on a wonderful play, which por-
trayed the life of an old-fashioned Christmas.
The high school mixed chorus presented several Christmas num-
bers before the second act and sang with the junior high chorus dur-
ing the second act. The Trumpet Trio, of Roger Abke, Raymond Keys
and Robert Dauterman, and a girls' trio of Joan brr, Janet
McPherson, and Carol Wiseman, presented special Christmas music.
A free will offering was taken to help with expenses ofthe
program.
