MR. ERVIN R. FLETCHER Superintendent of Schools To the Class of 1954: As you commence a new life beyond high school and go forward into the future, I would like to think that you will remember the days you have spent here and cherish those memories of good times, people, fellow students, subjects, and also some of those experiences which may not have been so pleasant at the time but which were most rewarding even so. I would like to wish that you will come back to visit your teachers and your classrooms often. However, we realize that in your new life you will find activities of great importance and of deep interest which will often keep you from doing those things which you would do if you had the time to spare. Because I know this is true in most of our lives, I would like to leave with you one thought which I hope you will carry throughout your lives. It is this: that you strive to find beauty in simple things for it is often in the simple things that we may find our greatest happiness and the most enjoyment. A glass of pure cold water is common and simple, but in its very simplicity lies its great beauty, and so it is with many of the simple common things of life which may make the difference between life or death, happiness or dismay, ugliness or great beauty. It takes knowledge and understanding to recognize beauty in the simple things. We hope that our schools have helped you to gain this knowledge and understanding so that you too may find beauty in the common things throughout your lives. ERVIN R. FLETCHER Superintendent of Schools Page Eight BOARD OF EDUCATION A. GRAY, C. Bust-IWELLER, J. WYLIE, C. STRATTON, C. CIJDDEBACK, C. LEFFERTS, Mus. C. QUACKENBUS1-1, C. AL1ToN, E. Fuzrcusn.

HORSMAN Principal DEAR SENIORS: Our forefathers from generation to generation have been inspired by the dreams of a land wherein life would be richer, finer, and better, with opportuni- ties for every person. For us to lose that faith now would be to extinguish one of the last beacons in this darkening world. The challenge is great but I am sure that with perseverance and abiding faith in Almighty Cod, success will be yours. Sincerely, Louis C. HORSMAN, Principal Page Nine
