Society is paralleled in a high school. Every student through his ideas, ideals and actions exhibits the influence of his environment. A high school is a culture unto itself. Anyone studying the be- havior patterns at PCI-IS will soon discover a mirror of the local population. Whether the topic is vandalism, the war, or Catawba water, it is all the same. PCHS is people - all of them, the good and the bad. The freaks, the straights, the dopers and the oilers are all part of our school. an-gf' :fi ,Q rr nf' A +551 s QL ,T Aff 8, , 1. It provides the potential to make every student a success. Yet it is up to every student to produce within himself the de- sire and drive to use the tools that are available to him. And through these tools to shape his life to that form which he views as best. mm ,W 1 ' '2w-,mmm fm : 'MQ-. The first pep assembly was a competition for the spirit jug, which is given to the class with the most all-around spirit. It was won by the Class of '76, but it changed hands many times during the year. Further pep assemblies boosted en- thusiasm for school sports through- out the year. Their season was not especially successful this year, but they have the determi- nation needed for their future use as varsity lettermen. 39 Although the P.C. cross country '72-'73 season record was similar to their previous season, the team and coach have a new enthusiasm and drive that will lead to their future success in league competitions. Ned Walker, Tom Coon, jeff Car- son, and Dick Zach led the squad through nine dual meets to earn a record of three victories and six de- feats. The team accomplished many personal victories this past year. Ex- perience gained by Coach Devine and veteran runners last year has proven valuable during the 1972-'73 sea- son. This year Port Clinton ran three runners in the low 10's and sent two to the district meet which is the first in P.C.'s history. M N -N- Cross Country Looks for More Improvement M 1 . ,Q .. They did this by having bake sales, window washes, and the annual Ugly Peet Contest, Another source of in- come was the sale of spirit ribbons and homecoming mums. The bonfire held at Waterworks Park sparked off the football season and further pep assemblies kept up spirit throughout the year. In addition to the cheer- leader's hayride, they sponsored the Winter Formal in late January with the theme, Some Enchanted Even- ing. New this year was the addition of a male cheerleader, Scott Glanz- man, and a male mascot, Scott Brad- bee. After winning the First game of the tournament, we lost to Fostoria 45- 87. Mark Tarolli, top scorer in the league, won the M.V.P. award and made first team G.L.L., becoming the honored player on the team. This they proved to the rest of the school when they won the Spirit Jug first and then came in with a first place in the maga- zine drive. The freshmen have a lot of talent which they showed through in their float, Let Snail 'em. Their float was good, but it took last place. This seems to be a tradition with freshmen. This class showed competitiveness, spirit, a lot of style, and promise for future years. 12.9 30 Kimberly Clawson Carol Clemons Charlene Clouse jann Cochran john Collins Robert Columbia Debra Conley Suzanne Conrad Linda Cook Ronald Cook Vikki Coors David Cox Rebecca Cox Tracy Cronquist Laura Crum Carl Daniels Javier De La Fuente Vivian De Mars Scott Donner Susan Dubbert Mary Duffy Bonnie Dugan Kenneth Dunfee Suzy Dunham Madeline Edmonds Chuck Ellis Richard Enderle Maria Erebia Janice Erton Veronica Eugling Diana Fastzkie Rhonda Fastzkie Iill Felber Thomas Fick Keith Fleming Kimberly Fleming Rhonda Floriana Debra Ford Natalie Franck Christopher Freeh Tammy Fritz Javier Gamboa Avi' lf' '-...af luv in 43' 4 'aa idx 2 f 2 f, 2 , -a if Q iiiii if x gf af ir, A it .- , ,rr '99 if ,,,, , , 'T W r Qs swan - 52 ffl fx . , 76 Proves Too Much in Magazine Drive Iacqueline Garber G i V Michelle Garber iii ie , , hir ' . ei :IQ da Anita Garza The freshman basketball team looks to Mr. Drusbacky for advice in the Port Clinton-Sandusky game. We must overcome hostility, misconcep- tion, and neglect, and a fair share of life's attitudes must be based on facts - not just Unions. But democracy and selfism itself can assist only when the people are educated. We need to continue to justify our traditions and support of public edu- cation, and to see to it that each boy or girl may have higher learning if he desires.
