We sailed triumphantly through our first year with Wendell Felshaw as our president, Charles Guth, vice-president, Ann Pierson, secretary, and Dick Selgo as treasurer. During our second year we lost quite a bit of our shyness and became active in sports, debate, music, and dramatics. Our chief officer for the year was Dick Selgo, and assisting him were Floyd McCullough, Joanne Hopfinger, and Grace Gill. As Juniors we found ourselves very busy. We had a prom to put on! To increase the funds in our treasury we had a paper drive, sponsored some dances, and were active in taking charge of our share of the basketball and football concessions. We elected as our executives for the year Milton Hehr, president, Bob Boeshart, vice-president, Mary London, secretary, and Wilbur Ahrens, treasurer. And at last we are Seniors. We've come a long way since that September day in '41 when we entered high school for the first time, but we've even a longer road ahead of us. Now, in the closing days of our high school career we are looking ahead to the responsibilities that go with the entrance into the great wide world. Armbruster, Treas.g J. Macko, Pres., J: Flynn, Sec, E. Warnke, V. Pres, We started our Freshman year as a very promising class. . . if high school activities have anything to do with it a little too much social life and not enough studying from all reports from teachers . . . an independent class with Willard Lemmerman as president, Richard Johannsen, vice-president, Joyce Flynn, secretary, and Suzanne Ganther, treasurer . . , this all being new to us, we only sponsored one dance . . . we all sur- vived the jolt of being freshmen but some are still a bit lost. We chalked up a victory by being per- mitted to enter the sophomore class . . . last year's addle-pated freshmen had finally metamorphosed into sensible but spirited sophomores . . . the very backbone of the school . . , a bit balmy to the upperclassmen but-Conrad Beutler was elected president, Robert lngwerson, vice-president, Lois Petersen, secretary, and Elizabeth Eldred, treasurer . . , in order to obtain more money for our treasury we again took over the concessions at a few basketball games . . . we also sponsored several very successful dances. What now? Well, again we made the grade only to have more responsibilities heaped upon us . . . we presented Spring Green, a comedy of teen-agers, all by our- selves . . , our next headache and problem was to produce one of the best junior-senior proms ever held at P,C,l-l.S .... as a junior class we have developed a fine bunch of followers with a few unusually remarkable leaders . , , Joe Macko acting as president, Joyce Flynn as vice-president, Earl Warnke, secretary, and James Armbruster, treasurer. Our sponsors during these years have been: Mr, Groves, Miss Sayers, Mrs. Tren- shaw, and Mr. Stucky. , ix W .. 43 5 Q.. SI 2 23 O 3 qi -C ' H u L 4. 9 ,QA 'A U5 5 LS 1 -2 wa . As freshmen we started off just as green as the many other classes before us but with plenty of vim, vigor and vitality. Not know- ing which way to turn, we just sat about with dumb looks on our faces-which was hard for us being such a smart class--waiting for our sponsors to tell us what to do. First, we were told, Elect officers. So we looked over our large, large field of bright and promising studies and decided to elect for president, Betty Wodrich, vice-president, Nan Richey, secretary, Paula Migalag and treasurer, Jack Braddock. Then we discov- ered that every class needs a little money to survive the four years ahead of them, so we sponsored a dance -and paper drive. This helped to fill a little of the big empty space in our treasury box. 'You can't have all work and no play in school so our fellows decided to get knocked around a bit in football. A lot of them won places on the bench and came out of football season with just a few minor injuries such as broken legs, broken backs and a few broken necks. And so our freshman year ended without a catastrophe. Well, those who made the grade call themselves sophomores this year. Being a little wiser from last year's experiences, we were able to start right off. Since that treasury wasn't very big and needed more money, we sponsored a dance, another big paper drive, and the concessions at a foot- ball game. ln between money-making jobs we worried about grades, our fellows got knocked around in football and basketball, and we decided on our leaders for the year which were president, Cha Short, vice- president, Dick Steing secretary, Evelyn Davisg and treasurer, Edward Migala. We close this year wishing we'd studied more and played less but hoping to become juniors on what we did do. Ui Cs fi . K WE 'E -u 3 S, U1 .. J of 33 2 3 .E U Q 3, 3.6 o C -U 'C .E 0 3 C 2 cu . Waggoner, Vice-President, S. Rosiar, Secretary We Freshmen began our activities in high school by selling refreshments at one of the football games. Later in the year we sponsored a dance after the Norwalk basketball game and helped in the paper drive. Some of the Fresh- man girls joined Las Amigos, G.A.A., and Compass Staff, and one Freshman girl was in the all school play. A few Freshmen boys joined the football squad and one was a manager on both the football and basketball squads. We have enjoyed this year very much, and we hope to enjoy the three future years more. The officers for the year were Burton Below, president, Don Waggoner, vice-president, Sammy Rosiar, secretary, and Beverly Easton, treasurer. Miss Kincade, Mr. Woods, Mr. Willbond, and Mr. Peters were our helpful sponsors. L+: tif.: B69 .QCLL :x Q.: -iii say L Q,--U E52 we gg, D . C.:-4 CU - L 9209 .2100 :Om P: N . 5251 ozgg Zi-33 C142 . The stadium was filled to capacity at every game. These record attend- ances all tolled reached a heighth of 8,045 people-the largest number ever to attend football games in Port Clinton's history, The Junior Letter Club sold the programs to help in- crease our ever needful injury fund. As usual, the faithful down- town coaches gave the team a well-earned vacation. This consisted of a grand boat trip to Puffin-Bay in Mr. William Miller's boat, and a very appe- tizing weiner roast while there onthe island, The greatly anticipated sec- ond annual football banquet finally came a few weeks after the last game. Here, as usual, the downtown coaches showed their generosity. Not only did the players enjoy a delicious feed, but they also had the pleasure of listening to Ray Ride, the football coach from Case, and Bob Yeckely, former All-American. All in all the football season was a great success. lPhotos Courtesy of the HERALDl QHQHETDQLI. FIRST ll'GW. ldr tw ry ht G Haw.-mar, mqr, C Shcrt R, Selgo CCJQYUIH G. THE SEIIIUR CLIISS Plilll The seniors presented this year a very new and charming comedy, Come Rein or Shine, by Marrijane and Joseph Hayes. The play was chosen for its unusual setting, its attractive plot, and its variety of characters. The rising curtain reveals the back porch of the Grayson summer cottage in a pleasant summer resort near the lake. The Graysons are moving in for the summer. An unexpected telephone conversation reveals that Rosemary March, the pampered granddaughter of the wealthy Julia March, is arriving shortly, and Jacqueline Grayson feels her vacation from college is to be ruined. Then Dan Lyons arrives to direct the local-talent play sponsored by Julia March, and real rivalry between Jac and Rosemary develops. There is much scoffing at the little theater movement on the part of young Glenn Grayson until his eyes are turned on' Rosemary, the leading lady. The com- plicated romances of Dan Lyon's actors nearly ruins his play until he says that the play will go on come rain or shine. The many complications disappear when Dan's fiancee arrives, and a satisfactory but very surprising conclusion is reached.
