Every year hundreds of students anxiously participate in driver’s education in the expec¬ tation that they, too, will become skilled enough to earn a driver’s license. They are ac¬ quainted with traffic rules and defensive driv¬ ing tactics before they are oriented to actual driving conditions. The students are able to practice their new skills with cars provided by the Pontiac Retail Store. Besides being intro¬ duced to driving techniques, the new students learn how a car operates and its proper mainte¬ nance. Habits and attitudes are formed under strict guidance so that students emerging from driver’s education have the interest and desire to drive safely and courteously. Driving problems are often discussed with the help of the magnetic board. Driver education cars are loaned to the school by the Pontiac Retail Store. v ' -V James Graybiel Ralph Grubb Roger Shepler To drive safely and courteously Dean Wilson 4

With the practical purpose of serving individual needs The Home Economics De¬ partment works with the purpose of benefitting the individual student. To assist in this goal, the department offers a number of coeducational courses. Because of the inevi¬ table progress and rapid pace of the 1960’s, new and ad¬ vanced materials and methods have become an accepted part of the curriculum. Such courses as Foods for boys, Food pre¬ paration, Food Serving, Ad¬ vanced Clothing, and Home Management are now a part of the regular class schedule. The department under the supervision of Carol Irish en¬ deavors to instill in its students some idea of their future roles as responsible members of a family. Carol Irish Jo Leino
