Mr. Jarvis, our new director, was very well pleased with the organization as he found it when he came here and he has continued to improve it steadily. The fact that regular rehearsals Were scheduled for every ninth period undoubtedly has been a most helpful factor. Our band was the only one in this region that played at all at our football games. This couldn't have been done had not many people offered their own private cars for the transporting of band members. It is generally felt at P.L.H.S. that the band has an important part in boosting morale at the football games. The gen- erosity of these people is deeply appreciated. Due to the lack of transportation, the usual outside activities were put aside. lfor Victory we young Americans can take disappointments with a smile. One of the most enjoyable assembly programs this year was put on by the band and a few other members. Bill Sanwald's was the most outstanding performance of the whole program. This Gay Nineties review was appreciated so thoroughly by our school that

The high spot of the Christmas Concert was the band's interpretation of Christmas Rhapsody containing many of the carols and songs associated with the Christmas season. The Spring Concert included a good sample of the finest kind of music and solos by a few selected members of the band. This past year we've had a special assembly band made up of members selected from the regular organization. It has done a fine job and has served to make our assemblies all the more pleasant. With graduation, the band loses quite a number of its best players but they are leaving with the utmost conhdence that there will be juniors and sophomores that will fill their places adequately. Of all the organizations and activities, the band is beyond any doubt one of the most outstanding. Pompton Lakes High School is certainly fortunate in having, in addition to our championship football and basketball teams, such a superb band. ! . rj' Page 63
