! 5? Yavener - winner, Morouki- an, Baldwin. 4 . Oratorical Contest The final decision proclaimed Burton Yavener winner of the second Oratorical Contest for Pomp- ton Lakes High School students. His topic, America and Humanity, was a fitting one for these times as were those of the other two con- testants, Grace Moroukian and Walter Baldwin, who also spoke effectively. Mr. Harrison, Americanization Officer of the local American Legion Post, and Mr. Hackett, President of the Board of Education, acted as chairmen. Burton will represent the school in the contest for the county held in Passaic. Following this he has a chance to be winner of the national contest held later on. Drama Group Play W'hen Ll fake French Duchess, a down-and-out publicity agent, a broken down Shakespearean ham, .i hoofer out of a job, a character out of Unfit' Toufs Cabin and a brat trying to break into the movies by way of her mother, get mixed up with Ll Harvard Professor, something is bound to start cooking. In fact everything boils over when this bunch hatch .1 plot to get the Duchess', in the movies, by pulling the wool over the eyes of one of Hollywood's big shots. All these amazing events took place in Mrs. Plopis Super Ultra-Refined Hollywood Professional Boarding House, which even now is famous for its hash. The plot was as fast moving as a Riker touch- down, and kept you alternately holding your sides and grabbing your seat.
