My ninth patrolled our outfield well And ran among our backs: His forte-and fortissimo Was on a tenor sax. My tenth was captain of the nine. All those who sauntered from Their meals in deep disgrace recall His double-jointed thumb. My next from dangling attitudes On all occasions loosed A flood of tales of Greenwich town XYith one big object-boost. My twelfth, a noble citizen, Served with us well, and yet Let saints forgive the things he did With Lyman's clarinet. My thirteenth managed football gam VVith competence and care, He always wore a helmet smart Of ultra shiny hair. CS My fourteenth delved in everything Each time fate offered chances And with great gusto vocalized Our drama, sports, and dances. My fifteenth loitered all the way And then where all could see Printed these lines and jingling rhymes And called them poetry. My sixteenth worked and played and tried To readjust his mouth Lest sounds and syllables be formed That savored of the South. It is not very hard to guess From all those simple clues The complement they represent For they do not confuse. My whole, therefore, rveiewed, goes by And passes through the gate The Pomfret graduating class Of nineteen-twenty-eight.

Halrhirtnrg Mr. and Mrs. Olmstead, Friends, Masters and Boys of Pomfret School: For years we have looked forward to this day of graduation as a day of great honors and joys. Honors we have: but our joys are tinged with a bit of sadness, sadness because we are about to leave lr'omfret. No matter how many years we may have lived here, we have felt the spirit of the school about us, lifting us up. We shall always remember our days here as the happi- est we have ever spent. Our appreciation of what you. Mr. and Mrs. Qlmsted, have done lor us goes too deep to be expressed by words. We can only try to give you our thanks. Our most cherished memories of Pomfret will be of you, and we shall never forget the aid you have given us. XYe wish to thank our friends and helpers, the masters, for the invaluable assistance they have rendered us. XYhen we needed help, you were ready to give it to us and start us straight again. To you who are following us we give deep thanks for the splendid loyalty and spirit you have shown. lt is to you that we owe the success ol our linal year here. XYe are leaving our places open for those who follow us. Always remember that Pomfret is in your hands. Be sure you are right, then go ahead. 98
