The much- decorated combat aviator assumed his present duties as Chief ofStafffor Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic on June 10, 1957. LTCOL E. M., STIMSON assumed command of the NELM Marine Detachment assigned to the Amphibious Squadron serving with the SIXTH FLEET in early October 1957. As such, he was in command of the troops who would have been used should the need have arisen for an amphibious landing of any type. Commander Transport Amphibious Squadron Eight, Captain B. E. Lewellen. Formerly Operations Officer for MSTS with duty in Washington. The Commodore relieved ComPhibGroup II Kas commander, NELM Amphibious Detachment, after completion of Operation Deep-Water.
