X, FIFTEEN YEARS HENCE Z Sleepily Isank into a cozy armchair after a hard day of housework, and pushed the remote control of my television set. I located a good channel. The specific place was a celebrated night club in New York City owned by the notorious CARROLL PILCHARD. The orchestra leader, who was playing some hot rhythm music, had his back to the mike. When he finished his piece and tumed. I saw that it was none other than BILL HURLEY. As Bill took his bow, the announcer came up and took his place. I looked at him, astonished. for he was RUSSELL PHILLIPS. a guy who, to me, had always seemed reserved. I was surprised at the swift spiel he peeled off. Ladies and gentlemen, he said, I wish to interrupt our program for some important news flashes. Here he is, that peeping Tom who sees everything and knows more, RALPH MATHIAS. Thank you, Russell. From Maryland comes the news that an Eastern Shore farmer, JAMES EAST, has successfully crossed wheat and tomatoes, the result being a very delicious sandwich. Paris: BARBARA HENDERSON has designed a new type of dress that is guaranteed to make short, stocky people look really tall and slim. Pocomoke, Maryland: FAITH GOSWELLEN and ANN ADKINS are advertising for husbands. Each wants one that will refrain from wife-beating, and who has the means of supporting them and two children acquired from their first marriages. Hollywood: A new picture entitled, 'Don't Get Married If You Can Stay a Bachelor, ' has just been released, starring BOB KALLAGIS. Co-starring are BIRCH HARE and CLIFTON LAWRENCE. And that, ladies and gentlemen, concludes tonight's news. As I glanced back at the TV screen, Russell, with many wild gestures, was introducing the notorious dancer, ALVIN MURRAY. My eyes strayed to a table and I noticed, in a party of about five, JACKIE PARSONS, who had recently been elected to the honorable office of Overseer of the Street Cleaners of New York. JIMMY RUSSELL is his assistant. SHIRLEY HOWELL, another member of the party, seemed engrossed in watching the actions of the different types of people there, and I recalled the fact that she was writing a book revealing New York night lifel The other two people at the table were none other than DOROTHY LA MBERTSON and JEANNE SCOTT and that is the tall and short of it, for they are two distinct types of dress models at MARLENE WELLS'S GOWN ESTABLISHMENT. I would like to introduce several celebrities, the announcer said, who are present tonight MADEMOISELLE MARGUERITE MITCHELL, famed hairdresser, who specializes in hair-dyeing: BEVERLY STANT. who wrote that wonderful pamphlet 'Why Birds Can't Fly Backward'g the famous comedian, DAVID AYDOLETTE, is sitting with MISS ETHEL MASON, who in a recent contest was judged as having the most unique pair of bowlegs in the United States: SHIRLEY COWGER, who coaches the girls' hockey team in a noted school in Maryland is here discussing with ROBERT ADKINS, of the Board of Tnistees, that wonderful game, even though he thinks it's too rough, HAROLD BRAUN, noted Engineer, is sitting with his sister, ELLEN, famous artist, and the well-known singer, ELLEN JANE CROCKETT. Believe it or not, folks, it is now 3 A. M. and time for us to close. With that, the light on my television blinked out. At 3:30, I lazily climbed in bed. I knew that fifteen years ago my high school friends had cherished quite different ambitions. Oh, well, I thought, Although they are not really famous, they are rather notorious be- cause of the unique lines of work they have chosen. I yawned once more, then slept. Barbara Peacock, Prophet
