1d pecial Education: A Great N Idea. In the Special Education Program, big changes were made this year. The classes were no longer self-contained, but in the mainstream of the regu- lar classes. The students received individual at- tention from their teachers and aides. The classes did different things, for example, Mrs. Johnston's class Went Christmas shopping and they organized a Halloween party, with Mr. Hoduski coming dressed as a ghost. In the cooking unit they learned the four food groups, and basic cooking skills. They had two guest meals in which they could invite an adult to eat with them. In sewing they learned the basic sewing skills and were required to make one project, such as an apron, purse, a bicycle bag.
