MERTON PORTER This book is dedicated to a man who himself is dedicated. Merton Porter was born March 13, 1912, in Green Camp, Ohio. He began a teaching career that has lasted 36 years. His career began with a three year stint at Waldo. His first appearance at Pleasant High School was in 1937. Mr. Porter remained at P.H.S. until 1953, when he accepted a position with the Prospect school system. For- tunately for Pleasant, Mr. Porter returned in 1957, and he has remained here since. In 1961, Mr. Porter earned his Master of Arts degree from Miami University. He holds a perma- nent High School Certificate in the fields of chemistry, physics, and mathematics. It is an honor to pay tribute to one who has become so much a part of Pleasant High School. Mr. Porter ' s own excellence inspires his students to achieve excellence in their own way. He gives much and asks nothing in return. Mr. Porter ' s untiring patience commands the respect of all his students. He overlooks our forgetfulness, our care- lessness, and our inconsideration. In return for his unselfish gifts of friendship, knowledge, and in- spiration, we dedicate the 1969 KEY to Mr, Merton Porter.
