Brockway, will absolutely perfect, straight, cavity-less, white teeth to Bucky Beaver. I, Vickie Eldridge, will my 1975 Pacer to anyone who likes the exhilarating thrill of cruising past High Point with no steering. I, Karl B. Encke, will my great painting ability to any basketball player that thinks he can handle it. I, Maria Feller, will my secret language to all the underclassmen so that they too can say what they want in class without the teachers understanding them. I, Matthew E. Harman, will my ability to incriminate, decimate, and totally humiliate opposing lineman to Greg Keck. I, Katie Falsetto, will my ability to be quiet and still never get anything done to Jnana Williams. I, Michael Harvey, will my ability to keep the school video running to Mrs. Morris because she will need it next year. I, Keith Hatch, will my 1972 Kawasaki 250 “Bomb” to anyone that can keep it running. I, Alan Hornberger, will nothing to nobody because I have nothing to will. I, Lorn Horton, will my empty rolls of tape, leaky water bottles and broken clipboards to the next girls’ basket- ball manager. I, Dianna Icke, will my ability to put up with all the short jokes to anyone big enough to take it. I, Jesse Karlson, being of sound mind and great body, hereby will nothing. I’m taking it all with me. I, Kathy Keck, will the school lunches back to Grand Valley rendering plant. I, Richard LaRoy Kees, will my 75 football jersey and my size to Joe Jacobucci so he can blow upper class- men over. If he can handle it. I, Mike Klenda, will my 1945 Willys jeep to anybody who can handle the power and speed. I, Butch Kelty, will my curly hair to any unfortunate girl who spends all morning curling her hair. I, Tom Lyons, will my dog Albert, who likes school better than I do, to anyone who wants to get teased about his stupid name. I, Melanie Nichols, will my number 11 basketball and volleyball unifrom to my sister Cyndi as long as she keeps up the excellence. I, Christi McEwen, will my nickname in volleyball... to Missy Boruch who had better fill the name. I, Mike Page, will everything I accomplish in anything to all my coaches, teachers, but most of all Mr. Price, Mrs. Sanders, and Mr. Hunter. I, Doug Peden, will anything I have or will accomplish in athletics to all my coaches, Larry Eklund and espe- cially Mr. Drew Grubbs, my personal coach and friend; I can't thank them enough. I, Jack Edward Pfertsh II, will my ability to lose cleats and make more than my share of smart cracks to Freddy Wallace in hopes that he will keep Mr. Price on his toes. I, Lynn Phillips, will my excellent marksmanship to Mr. Murawska so he can kill his elk. I, Mark VonEhrenkrook, will my great attitude, my amazing academic status, and my outstanding athletic abil- ity (not to mention my modesty) to my big, little brother Karl VonEhrenkrook, for I am sure he will put it to good use in football. I, Sondra Wachler, being the master procrastinater, will finish my Will later. I, Penny Walker, will my cool-mannered temper and understanding ways to Joy Ann in hopes she will follow in my red-headed footsteps. I, Mark Wissel, will my tree smashing ability to anyone with a bumper like mine. 18 Senior Prophecy Ahh — come in, come in. You wish to see into the future? Sit down. Make sure you're in a comfortable posi- tion. I have a feeling this will take a while. Comfortable? Good. Now put your hands on the table and close your eyes. I see a cloud forming now; think of somebody specific. I’m getting a hazy image ... I see Colorado —land — cows — machines. Ah„ I see Lynn Phillips. In ten years he will own 1000 acres, registered paint and quar- ter horses, and a large herd of cattle. I see large semis for hauling livestock to market. They’re part of the Phillips’ trucking line. They contract with Butch Kelty, owner of the largest food producer in the world. Now I see diesel mechanic Mike Klenda hard at work. He's employed by Colo. Kenworth. Now I see more land ... miles of highway. It's Keith Hatch driving his trucks across Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico and Kansas. Now I see computers .. . Mark Wissell, who is a computer engineer, likes to race his four-wheel drive vehi- cles. In his spare time he runs a 3,500 sheep ranch.I see a hospital, a small town. Lorn Horton is working and caring for two lovely children and a husband, too. Richard Kees, a multi-billionaire playing defensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys, coaches during the offseason. Also, there's Mark Von, manager of a famous NFL football player. He spends his summers at a big business firm in Switzerland. Mike Page is in view; he's the coach of the L.A. Lakers team. Doug Peden has become famous in his profession ... whatever it is. He’s living with his very loving wife. Maria Feller, has been working side by side with the most famous man in the world, travels all over the globe with him and enjoys life. Matt Harman has come into view. He is a world renowned lawyer employed by HHH III. He runs an estate on the Riviera in France and a private resort in Tahiti where he now resides on a 4 year vacation. I see Jesse Karlson who seems very happy being an engineer in S. California . . . that’s all I see on Jesse but I do see someone close by, probably in N. California. It’s Melanie Nichols, now married and living in Las Vegas, making the bucks being a pro model. I've gone blank. Are you all right? A little tired? Just hang in there; we're almost finished ... I think. Now concentrate. A picture is forming again. It's Veronica Byers; she seems to be an accountant for a very large firm. Oh, it also looks as if she has a partnership in that very business. Look! There’s Katie Falsetto in her convertible driving up to her mansion. At her side is her loving husband. Now I see Tom Lyons finishing up a monument on Sunnyside in memory of the 1981 graduation party. He’s been there quite a while. Penny Walker is living the life of Dallas with one of the richest men in the world (J.R.) Speaking of Dallas, Karl Encke is now the man who judges the girls who are trying out for the Dallas Cowboy cheerleader squad. Also, in Dal- las, is a most famous dating service owned by Jack Pfertsh. It’s becoming very fuzzy, I see water... it must be the ocean! Now I see some land ... it’s Hawaii; we’ve traveled to the island in just six seconds. I see two people that look familiar. One is on a surfing tour and he’s on a wave now ... beautiful... great. Oh, excuse me. I forgot I was telling you what's going on. It’s Alan Horn- berger on the surf... he’s making big bucks on this tour. The other is Sondra Wachler who owns redwood hot tubs and spas on the island of Maui. More ocean .. . we've stopped ... We seem to be at a very famous ski resort in Switzerland owned by Michael Harvey, a very respected man. Christi McEwen is skiing there today. She’s on vacation, seeing all of Europe. Bridget Brockway now owns a mansion for she has a very big salary from MGM studios... We’re traveling again ... I see the green of the ocean, the waves, the storms ... now the water is getting more shallow onto the land form known as Africa. Wooo ... Wow ...! I can’t believe it. Vickie Eldridge is mak- ing new hairstyles for the Africans ... and making millions! Very close by is Dianna Icke in a desert all alone with her harem of thirteen males. It’s fogging up again ... we must have moved to a new land form, Australia. Kathy Keck is living there with her husand and his dog. They look very happy ... I see no more ... that’s it. Who may I ask were you thinking of? Oh the class of 1981! That was a very interesting story; thank you for your time. 19 Senior Snaps Reality; wow what a concept! Box 146 Collbran, Colo. 81624 487-3737 Senior Lettermen BUTCH KELTY 1 st Team All-League. Very few miscues from center during a season describes an outstanding center. Butch did a great job and was also a leading defenser on the line at another tough position, noseguard. He had 7 unas- sisted and 24 assisted tackles for the season. KEITH HATCH 1st Team All-League. Even though Keith was late in playing his first game, he got started when we had lost some key people to injury and came on strong in the last half of the sea- son. RICHARD KEES 1st Team All-League. A big, strong, offensive and defensive tackle. His strength and size were determining factors on both offense and defense. Defensively, Rich recovered 3 fumbles, and was credited with 2 unas- sisted and 20 assisted tackles. DOUG PEDEN Captain, 1 st Team All League. Doug was the team’s leading rusher with 686 yards on 67 attempts for a 4.1 yard carry aver- age. He was ranked 9th in the state in rushing during the last week of the season. Doug also led the defense with 15 unassisted tackles, 67 assisted tackles, 6 fum- ble recoveries, and 3 inter- ceptions. He was the key player on the team from beginning to end because of his leadership, desire, and always giving the team more than was required in any situation. He was also the team’s leading scorer with 52 points. M M MERCANTILE 120 Main Street Collbran, Colo. 81624 Your Hometown Grocer JESSE KARLSON A key player in the first 4 ball games, and would probably have been a 1st Team All-League selection, but was injured in the fourth ball game. At that point he was the team’s second best defenser with 4 unassisted and 12 assisted tackles, 2 inter- ceptions and 4 fumble recoveries. The coaching staff spent the remainder of the season trying to replace Jess, but never quite found the personnel to do it. COLLBRAN LIONS CLUB Collbran, Colo. 81624 HAROLD LANNING, Secretary CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes to a very special class .. . Peggy Peden KARL ENCKE 1 st Team All League. Karl is a player who could play just about any position and we made him prove it, guard, end, and tackle. He adjusted well and his versa- tility was a big asset to the team. The leading defenser on our line, Karl had 12 unassisted and 30 assisted tackles, recovered 2 fum- bles and was responsible for a safety. JACK PFERTSH An outstanding kicker. Jack kicked-off 17 times during the year and aver- aged 41.8 yards per kick. Also a starter at tight end. Jack caught 5 passes for 60 yards. Also a potentially great place kicker; it is unfortunate that we never had the opportunities to use his talents in all games. CRIST MACHINERY SUPPLY CO. 2969 North Avenue Grand Junction, Colo. 245-4068 MIKE PAGE A top quarterback and could probably have been all-league in any other league in the state; how- ever, the top two quarter- backs in the state were also in our league. Mike com- pleted 41 of 119 passes for 704 yards, and was 6th in the state in passing during the last week of the season. Also our punter, Mike kicked 35 times for an average of 30.7 yards per punt. Mike was also a great team leader on offense and knew his offensive game ‘‘inside-out.” «3C r : i 7 NORTH AVENUE FURNITURE APPLIANCE 945 North Avenue 243 0646 Grand Junction, Colo. COACH — A teacher, a friend, a leader... to train intensively by instruction, demon- stration and practices ... to direct, or prompt... the privilege of working with young people . .. attempting to have them perform to the best of their capabilities ... coach- ing is working with others to create something worthwhile ... those who give time, energy, and effort can be proud of the result. One of the biggest headaches is when a player places himself above the rest of the team, refusing to reason logically about the situation ... result: closed communication lines.
