PROPHECY It is the year 1990. The seniors of 1980 have all become great in their various endeavors. They have spread their fame all over the world. Right now they are having one of their famous annual parties; let’s look in. In the crowd we see familiar faces. First we catch a glimpse of Kevin Kinky” Encke, the president of the YMCA in Rifle, Colorado, talking with three famous men: Alan Dillon, owner of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders; his head coach for those beautiful girls, Clarence Nichols, fondly called “Clancy by his associates; and the assistant coach, the blond, blue eyed Dale Click. Looking over the heads of those four is Anita Stites, recently hired as the head coach of the Phildelphia 76’ers with Julius Erving as her understudy. Before she was hired to coach, Anita had taken over the English department from the retired Mrs. Sanders. Over on the balcony we see a married Nella Springer, sipping a cold drink and watching with pleasure her two small, tanned children; she is talking casually with Glenda Spangler who recently and shyly came down from the mountains where she had been living a secluded life as a hermit. She was studying sociology also. Along with this company is Gail Hornberger who cut her skiing in the Swiss Alps short just to be with her friends; she has invited every one to come to her beach house on Saturdays. Conversing with Gail is Anita Nichols, who after spending four years in college, has finally graduated to be a ranch hand for Stacy Hoke to help manage her extraordinary camel ranch outside the suburbs of Collbran. In another group we come across Ora Chenoweth, owner of Chenoweth and Company, a pipe fitting and welding outfit; her brother Daniel Chenoweth is also in this company as a pipe fitter and plumber. Sitting beside them and looking somewhat refined is the world’s most reknown met- allurgical engineer, Lenny Hill, who is talking about his latest discovery to Curtis Phillips, a very scientific elec- trician. Near this group and lookin very important is 6®4 Colton Mills, a great mechanic. He is talking to his three friends with great enthusiasm: Kim Wallace, an excellent truck driver who has driven all the way from Alcapulco to make a stop over for this party. The dare-devil Scott Stanely, having beaten Evil Kneivel in a motor cycle race, has challenged his friend Mike Carnahan to a race; but Mike is planing to drive his Pickup truck in the Baja 500 in California. There is Robin Lenard who recently starred in his third academy award-winning movie, How the West Was Fun, along with Laura Wachler, the most prestigious movie producer of 20th Century Fox, discussing the points of the movie with Robin. The famous anthropologist and the publisher of several popular books. Shelly McDavid has introduced her partner, Lisa Sieber who is a writer for the National Geographic Society and also the author of several books, to a good friend Carlos Castanado. At the end of the room, we see Janell Chaffin, MD. who is the administrator of the Plateau Valley Nursing Home providing Geriatric care for all the retired teachers of Plateau Valley School. With her conversing in polite tones is the haughty millionaire gynecologist Matt LaGree who was recently employed in California. The very sophisticated Mark Todaro, one of the best wine tasters of California’s Napa Vineyards brought some of his speciality all the way to this party. He has begun to compliment Kammy McElwain for her cool head and calm action that helped save all those people in the great DC-10 crash of 1988. Kenny Lynn, the inconspicuous CIA agent, recently arrived from Greenland, it now talking with Ray Miller about his great escapades and narrow escapes, Ray a professional bull rider in rodeos all over the world, has also had a few narrow escapes. Now we leave the seniors of 1980 to continue their party and reunion. 19
