qu-ve THE FOQTBALL SQUAD 1 fs The Season of 1926 In the autumn day of September near the twenty frrst a group of boys began to report to Coach oe Bennett for the purpose of learmng football Not havtng the best of equnpment and a rather small crowd the rmpressron was left that the chances were very slum for a team But the boys showed theur wnllmgness to frght and the gang began to increase When the numbers had reached the twenties Coach began to smxle and though most of the boys were new at the game through hrs smxle they could see that his hopes were reachmg htgher planes Pune Knots would play their fxrst game One falr day rn October the squad wrth a number of boosters motored to Havana to meet one of the strongest teams an the county Returnmg from that fnrst game wxth the smaller end of the score clnd not mean we were to lose all the games that followed Coach Bennett who taught the boys new trucks and plays Captann Cox who lead the gang and Harrell who used hrs thmkmg as quarterback and the other men showlng their ability and determmatnon led P H S to victory on the football freld manv txmes On November Z5 after fxghtmg a hard frght and wmnmg me game the squad attended a splendrd banquet prepared by the Home Economncs gurls who wished to show their .apprecratnon of the record made by the team of Z6 l.
