Dancing the night away. MUSIC DANCES .. CHANGE In 1 949, thick rpm records were the main source of music, but by the mid-60’s student's record collections were made up of 45's . Those records were played on simple hi-fi systems, but now the music from 8-track tapes, cassettes, and albums is transmitted from expensive AM FM stereo set-ups. Sock Hops were held in the 1950's, while students of the 1 960's were doin' the Twist. Now students are moving to the steps of the Hustle.” Where students once danced to the sounds of jukeboxes and live bands, they are now dancing to the beat of recorded music — popularly known as disco. 13
