THE PILOT PROGRAM is designed to assist those students wishing to start early in their college work. Through this program pilot students can actually attend college before-becoming a senior and receive credit for their work. The only limitations are that the student must have completed his junior year with better-than-average grades. He is allowed to take only six hours per session of courses offered to college freshmen. Gov't and Jets [develop Citizens STUDENTS INTERESTED IN our local and national government make up the Government club. Their main goal is to develop an interest of government in the students by various means. One of their effective ways has been through personally-directed qucstionaircs concerning current issues. Those students who have cultivated an interest in the broader forms of science and physics make up Jets. They perform various experiments and projects through individual or group work. Pel Plate and MHP Give Academic Leadership PELICAN STATE — Betty Stchr. Carey Alsup, Dave Hathorn. DELEGATES TO Pelican State arc chose by the faculty on the basis of character, service, scholarship, anti loyalty. They attend a week-long conference in Baton Rouge in the summer prior to their senior year. Being introduced to the mechanics of our government through this worthwhile program, the students take an active part in setting up mock governments in hopes that it will strengthen their leadership ability and knowledge of governmental affairs. DAVE HATHORN eagerly anticipates a work filled week at Pel-State. 56
