Science — The Frontier of Tomorrow PINEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL offers several exploratory science courses which include Chemistry, Chcrn Study, Biology. General Science, and Physics. Students taking these courses acquire a better and fuller insight into the hows and whys” of our earth's making. General Science, made available for freshmen, teaches the basic fundamentals of science and prepares the student for the broader subjects such as biology and physics. Biology deals with animal and plant life, whereas physics consists of a combination of math and chemistry. Having been introduced two years ago, Chem Study is one of the newest courses offered at Pineville High. The more advanced student is advised to take Chem Study rather than Chemistry because more difficult experiments are performed as a result of special textbooks. Chemistry, on the other hand, involves more classwork and less lab work. Mrs. Wilkerson finds a student’s question amusing. Assistant Football Coach Bramlctt sorts the old jerseys. Louisiana State University Mrs. Coaker Mrs. Edwards Business Education Prepares Students John Clarius ponders a while before starting his assignment. PREPARING THEMSELVES TO be the well informed business leaders of tomorrow’s world, Pincvillc High students arc gaining the needed experience through the study of distributive and business education courses. To be eligible for taking distributive education, the student must be a junior or senior with a Gavcragc and be recommended by two teachers. The student schedules four hours ol daily class work and then carries through job responsibilities somewhere in Pincvillc or Alexandria. Students taking distributive education are introduced to actual working experience and given the opportunity to better their skills. Business education is designed to aid any student wishing to advance in the business world as well as the student wishing to maintain a less complicated job. The courses offered — Typing I and II, business machines, shorthand, secretarial office practice, general business, and bookkeeping — supply the student with ample knowledge to aid him in everyday life. Mechanical Drawing is of great value to students planning to enter the field of engineering. Bnicc Winn receives plenty of help from Mr Rice and his comrades.
