Qocia! Qtudies Relate Pa si to Present Social Studies, dealing with all aspects of economics, government. and history, are an important part of a student’s schedule. One finds as each day passes, that it becomes more important to know what is happening in the world today, how it is influenced by past events, and how it will affect the future. Civics gives the student an inside l«x k at how the government operates and its effect on society. World history tells the story of man’s beginning and his development physically, mentally, and spiritually. It is an elective, but those preparing for college are urged to take this course. American History gives the student an appreciation of this country’s heritage. As a requirement for graduation, it includes a comprehensive study of communism in which students can compare present day societies. Mr Benjamen points out one of his students' many errors. U. Basketball Head Coach Realizing the importance of one’s physical strength, Pine-ville High School requires four years of physical education for graduation. Physical education classes encourage gtxxl sportsmanlike-conduct and develop the student’s physical skills. Enjoyable and beneficial activities are provided for both boys and girls. Boys participate in basketball, football, baseball, and track with respect to the particular season. Girls’ activities include bounceball, softball, volleyball, golf, table tennis, basketball, badminton, and tumbling. A health course is required one six-weeks period during the year. During this period, the student is introduced to the basic principles of health habits and first aid. Also, the dangers of alcohol, smoking, and drugs arc discussed. SHAZAM!
