Speech Department The Name -Speech Department is magic to many ears, for this part of our school works magic in helping to transform shy, awkward boys and girls into poised, self-assured young men and ladies. For Speech includes not only dramatics but other phases of public speaking as well. There are three groups who take part in speech activities. The two speech classes, which have organized into clubs known as Les Parleurs and The Future Speakers, are the training groups. Those who take part in enough activities and who win enough points are then invited to become members of the Thespians, which is a national honorary organization for budding dramatic stars. One major production a year is given and through this medium all those pupils who are involved learn the intricacies of the stage from props to production. The production this year was Our Miss Brooks. Mrs. Miller sponsors all speech work.
