From that beginning the Rebel thinclads enjoyed a successful campaign, coming through with flying colon in the District Meet and in their regular season schedule. Coach Jimmy Gray’s Rebels won seven events at the District Meet with Taylor McNeel winning four, Bob Corley, two, and Ralph Kees, one. These three boys went on to the State Meet. Here Corley won 1st in the discus and 5th in the 440 yd. dash. Kees placed 2nd in the high jump. Boys who lettered were: Kenny Ellis. Ralph Kees, Gary Hays, Buddy King, Bob Corley, B. T. Dennis, Eddie Guillotte, Trell Mercer, Jimmy Rogers, Johnnie Tuma, and Taylor McNeel. The 56-’57 Track season will begin officially Monday, February 18. The clndermen plan to atteua the Northwestern Relays in March.
