Left to right: Coach Pilney, Dave Taylor - most improved and all-city. Corky Yates - all-district and most valuable back, Frank Sanders - all-district and all-city and most valuable lineman, Jerry Harris -scholastic award. Buddy Farrar - all-city, and Coach Jimmy Keeth. Coach Pilney in his speech cited that it took courage to play football. He said, Courage exemplifies champions not only in athletes, but in everyday life. He told the players, Above ail, keep yourselves physically conditioned and academically high. Nothing else matters right now.

football banquet Before a crowd of 200, Coach Andy Pilney of Tulane University spoke of desire and success at the Pineviile Rebel Club's second annual football banquet. This banquet was in honor of the 1956 P. H. S. football team. Jimmy Keeth, Rebel head coach, presented awards to four stalwarts of the team. Three other awards were presented by the Town Talk to the members of their All-City Team. Other speakers of the evening included Rev. John Kilpatrick, Fred Tannehill, president of thi Rebel Club, and serving as Toastmaster was T. C. Brister. Each member of the ’56 squad, the coaches, and cheerleaders were introduced to the loyal supporters of the Rebel team by Coach Keeth. Winners of the school awards, presented by Coach Keeth are, left to right: Jerry Harris, scholastic award; Dave Taylor, the most improved player; Frank Sanders, most valuable lineman; Corky Yates, most valuable back.
