REBELS 6 - BOLTON 28 In the last game of the season the Rebs suffered defeat at the hands of the Bolton Bears, who racked up 28 points to the Rebs 6. The Rebel machine couldn’t seem to move the ball enough to score more than once. Bruising Bill Funderburk went over for the Rebs lone score. We appeared to be outclassed by the triple A” Bruins. Speed was the main factor that put them so far out in front. Even though we lost the last game, the Rebels ended the season with a very fine record of 7 wins, 3 losses, and 1 tie. Too late! Bolton scored again! Home Support!

Ferrier GENE BRILEY Back HENRY VICKNAIR Back REBELS 12 - MENARD 12 The Rebels outplayed their crosstown rivals in a bitterly fought game with Menard. However, they had to settle with a 12-12 tie in a game that saw the deciding point by each team missed after all four touchdowns. Menard scored first on a 55 yard pass play from Buddy Cosen-za to Bootsy Watson after only three plays from scrimmage. The Rebels came back with a score only 1:30 left in the first half as Billy Funderburk crashed over from the two yard line. The Rebels took the second half kick-off and came back strong. Corky Yates capped the drive by throwing a 21 yard scoring pass to Jon Harris. Butch Willis led the Eagles' drive as they rallied right back to tie the score. A big fired-up Rebel line banged down Joe Serio as he tried to run for the winning extra point. Don't stand there, do something!

football banquet Before a crowd of 200, Coach Andy Pilney of Tulane University spoke of desire and success at the Pineviile Rebel Club's second annual football banquet. This banquet was in honor of the 1956 P. H. S. football team. Jimmy Keeth, Rebel head coach, presented awards to four stalwarts of the team. Three other awards were presented by the Town Talk to the members of their All-City Team. Other speakers of the evening included Rev. John Kilpatrick, Fred Tannehill, president of thi Rebel Club, and serving as Toastmaster was T. C. Brister. Each member of the ’56 squad, the coaches, and cheerleaders were introduced to the loyal supporters of the Rebel team by Coach Keeth. Winners of the school awards, presented by Coach Keeth are, left to right: Jerry Harris, scholastic award; Dave Taylor, the most improved player; Frank Sanders, most valuable lineman; Corky Yates, most valuable back.
