JENA 27 - REBELS 7 The Rebels ran into one of the strongest teams in the state as they played their first district game of the season and were beaten 27-7. A good first half was the difference for the Giants as they scored 20 of their points. The Rebels played on even terms with the Giants in the second half. I surrender! Billy Funderburk played a tremendous game for the Rebels as he led the second half touchdown drive with his power surges up the middle. He also capped the drive off by plunging over from the three for the score in the third quarter. Corky Yates and Jon Harris teamed up for a good passing combination as Corky hit on 6 of 13, five of them to Jon.

CONRAD OHLIG End KENNETH SASSER Tackle DAVE McGRAW Tackle REBELS 24 - OAKDALE 0 The Rebels won their most impressive victory of the 56-57 season by defeating the Oakdale Warriors 24-0. The Rebs completely dominated the Warriors in every department in the game. Making only 93 yards rushing and 19 passing, the Warriors never got a chance to score. The Rebels marched up and down the field almost at will, capitalizing on all breaks. Three of the touchdowns were made on long runs by Jon Harris, Buddy King, and Billy Funderburk. The fourth score was added when J. W. Ferrier received a pass from Corky Yates. In this game the Rebels lost the services of Eddie Guillotte, a fine halfback, for the rest of the season, as he suffered a dislocated elbow. Touchdown bound Corley

REBELS 21 - WINNFIELD 0 Pinevllle Rebels scored the first time they got their hands on the ball to defeat a big Winnfield aggregation in the Homecoming Game. The Rebels used a strong ground game and an impressive passing attack to rack up 21 points in the first half and in the second half protected their lead with strong defensive play. When Johnny comes running home! Scoring for the Rebels were Johnny Tuma, Buddy Farrar, and Corky Yates. Buddy King rounded out the scoring with three conversions. Outstanding on defense were Dave Taylor, Dave McGraw, Frank Sanders, Buddy Megison, Buddy Farrar, and Corky Yates. Ripping off yards in the Rebel backfield were Billy Funderburk. Johnny Tuma, Corky Yates, Jon Harris, and Buddy King.
