BUDDY MEGISON Guard BUDDY FARRAR End TRELL MERCER Tackle REBELS 19 - OUACHITA 14 One of the many big moments of the year was a thrilling, come-from-behind victory over the AAA Ouachita Lions, 19-14. At the game’s end Ouachita was on the Rebel one yard line. Corky Yates, Jon Harris and Billy Funderburk sparkled in the backfield while McGraw, Bailey, Farrar, and Taylor were tremendous on the line. Yates completed 6 of 13 passes during the night, most of them to Farrar. Harris scored the winning touchdown by racing 31 yards for the final score of the game with the Rebels trailing 14-13 at the time. Eddie Guillotte scored on a pass from Yates, and Billy Funderburk scored on a four yard churn up the middle. For Ouachita, All-Stater Dickie Crowe was a standout, carrying the pigskin 28 times for 119 yards. He also handled the kicking chores. Guillotte is stopped!”

JIM BAILEY Tackle DAVE TAYLOR Tackle Gary Corley and company smear a Wampus Cat, FRANK WHITE Center REBELS 12 - BAKER 37 A very strong Baker team greeted the Rebel team down Baton Rouge way, taking a decisive 37-12 victory. Corky Yates and Buddy King, however, looked great with a tremendous passing combination that kept Baker on their toes throughout the game. Yates completed 8 of 11 for the night, while King ran and caught passes beautifully. From the first time they got their hands on the ball to the game's end, it was just too much Rebel power. Corky Yates ran, passed, and directed the fine Rebel units as they really rolled up a wide margin score. Robert Corley chipped in as usual with his allround play. Jon Harris, Billy Funderburk and Eddie Guillotte scored along with Yates and Corley. The big Rebel line was terrific, throwing back the Wampus Cats time after time. FUMBLE!

CONRAD OHLIG End KENNETH SASSER Tackle DAVE McGRAW Tackle REBELS 24 - OAKDALE 0 The Rebels won their most impressive victory of the 56-57 season by defeating the Oakdale Warriors 24-0. The Rebs completely dominated the Warriors in every department in the game. Making only 93 yards rushing and 19 passing, the Warriors never got a chance to score. The Rebels marched up and down the field almost at will, capitalizing on all breaks. Three of the touchdowns were made on long runs by Jon Harris, Buddy King, and Billy Funderburk. The fourth score was added when J. W. Ferrier received a pass from Corky Yates. In this game the Rebels lost the services of Eddie Guillotte, a fine halfback, for the rest of the season, as he suffered a dislocated elbow. Touchdown bound Corley
