Even in the colonial days the typical Southerner was interested in physical contests and participation in sports. 1956-57 is no different. Almost every boy in Pineville High takes part in some athletic contest whether it be on an interschool level or in intramurals. Girls, too, enjoy sports, both as spectators and participators. Consequently, no record of A Year in Dixie would be complete without a section devoted to the teams, their contests, and their records. Coaches and players alike anxiously wait for the next play of the game.
