Ya Hoo Reporter Visits Fire Area Responding to whispered instructions, “Go be a reporter and see what’s happening”, I witnessed the fire last Thursday that burned along the Kansas City Southern railroad tracks for one mile from the Old Marksville Road back of Louisiana College to the edge of the P. H. S. football field. Lack of oU at the hub of the wheel of a diesel freight train created a “hot box” from which sparks flew as train men were cleaning it. That was the cause of the blase. Henry Terrell; a sophomore, and Miss Lessie Moore were the firs to realize the extent of the fir and turn in the alarm around 11:30 A. M. The hills of dirt on the edge of the field, formed by removing the dirt for the railroad bed, or by leveling off the school ground, were covered with Waring scrub oak and tall grass.
