The USS PINE ISLAND alternates with her sister seaplane tenders in serving as the flagship for Commander Patrol Force, SEVENTH Fleet!Commander U S Taiwan Patrol Force! Commander Fleet Air Wing ONE This tripartite command brings several diverse responsibilities to its commander p ern a ies in the Western Pacific could e detected. He is charged with the vitally important antisubmarine protection of the SEVENTH Fleet and friendly nations in the Far East, the security of the sensitive Taiwan Strait, and overseeing the operational readiness, 'training and logistics of patrol squadrons from Japan to Vietnam. The present Commander Rear Admiral R M ISAMAN, and his staff of 80 officers and men exercise this threefold responsibility from the PINE ISLAND and her sister ships the SALISBURY SOUND and CURRITUCK These seaplane tenders also establish advanced base seadromes to support seaplane operations in remote areas.
