B DIVISION . BH Division is one of the most important. organizations on any ship. B 'as in Boilers, is the source of all energy required in a modern vessel. ' The boilers produce the steam for the main engines., which' propel the ship. They run:the generators, which give you.electricity to operate all electrical equipment throughout the ship. They also furnish steam for your hot water and hot air systernsp- e I BW Division is little heard of on a ship of this type. Most of 'its activities are carried on below decks and few men not directly connected withlit realize its importance. I Many of the other divisions recognize B for its softball reputation. At the present time we are tied for first place in the shipis softball league. The team came right to the top under the able .management of Frank Whylings and the superb pitching of Rudy Avila. V B Division consisted largely of Reserves at commissioning. It is slowly but surely being filled with,Regulars, all fine men. Itis a fine division with Chief Machinist Bauer as fDivision.Officer.w 49-
