M DIVISION j In theory the duties of the M Division con- sist oi maintaining and Operating the main' propulsion machinery and their auxiliaries. However, in practice it does much more in that it also furnishes all of the utilities offered .by this modern vessel. ' ' M Division originally consisted of men with diversified backgrounds, being' predominately Reserves with- the exception of five Regular Navy men. The division has since acquired many new Regulars who have become well-grounded in their new duties. The Division Officer. is LtJG. G. S. Stringos. He is assisted by G. W. Garris, MMC, and M E. Hay, MMC. 47
