It came almostuas a great shock to him, to see that he was in a large ,room with between thirty to forty' young Japanese- women standing in the nude engaging in conversation, showering or 'bathing in the sunken bath tubs or pools. The women just looked over at him H with no concern at all' and continued with what they were doing, while 'Lieut. Boulger was busily engaged in considering how best to make a graceful retreat.
