CLASS HISTORY -ii? Looking back over our years in Pine Grove High, we recall many fond memories of the events enjoyed together. In our Freshman year our group was enlarged by students from surround- ing townships. Together we formed a class of one hundred and six students. With these country students we attended dances, basketball games, and joined the activities of Tri-Hi-Y, Hi-Y, Glee Club, and other clubs. Class organization came with our Sophomore year, as we elected advisors and class oflicers. Our Sophomore activities included our first dance, which was a hoedown, and two soup sales. Our Iunior year was exciting. In this year we picked our class rings, which we still cherish. With much anticipation, we awaited their arrival, which was to have been Christmas, but to the joy and delight of everyone, we received them on November 19th. Iunior activities included a hoedown. a Christmas dance, a card party, and our long-awaited junior Prom, which after much debating was called Hawai- ian Cruise. Room 111 served as our ship which brought us to our romantic Hawaii, an island with its many palm trees, flower-bearing vines, and beauti- ful moonlit water. The Prom was a gala affair with interest centered around the crowning of the King and Queen, Richard Longsderff' and Dolores Men- dell. During the course of the evening we chanced off a television set. In our junior year, our class and the Class of '52 purchased a new electric scoreboard for the auditorium. At last! The year of years! We were Seniors l During our Senior year we took an educational trip to Pottsville, visiting the Court House, news- paper buildings, Yuengling's ice cream plant, and the jail. On November llth, we presented our class play, Our Miss Brooks, a comedy, under the direction of Miss Garman. I'm sure, not only the audi- ence enjoyed the play, but the cast enjoyed putting it on as well. We collected over 52,000 on the sale of magazines. The girls had the highest sales score, hence the boys were obliged to throw a party, which was enjoyed by all. Other activities included a doughnut sale and a hoedown. In the month of February, we held our last important dance, a valentine dance, at which the Senior girl who collected the most money for the heart fund was crowned Queen of Hearts, and received many lovely awards. Our final trip, one which had been anticipated since we entered high school, found us enroute to Washington on june l, 2, 3. Upon our return, we took leave of our classmates and teachers. Bravely, with high hopes, we regretfully depart from Pine Grove High School, knowing that we are now on our own and that our future depends upon the course we follow. But always in our hearts will linger the many happy memories of our dear Pine Grove High. -IOAN SNYDER and CALTHANNA BEHNEY. -41.-
