Coach Pepe's boys are noted for playing their best brand of basketball in the playoffs. They have Won eighteen out of twenty-one games in playoff battles. In regular league play, Pepe's teams have won one hundred forty-four games and lost but twenty-two, for the amazing record of one hundred sixty-two Wins to only twenty-live setbacks. -602

For the fifth straight ear, Pine Grove High School took the championship of the South Schuylkill League by deieating Schuylkill Haven, 64-61. The Grovers also represented their league in the District 11 play-offs and defeated a strong Hellertown team, 66-46. However, Nesquehoning's underrated quintet upset the high-Hying Grovers, 59-56, in the District 11 final. Pine Grove High School's individual scoring record for one season was broken for the second year in succession. The record set last season by Paul Lehman was 424 points. This season. two members of Pine Grove's team broke the record. They are Donald Reinhard, who scored 431 points, and the new record holder, Iackson Pepe, who scored 590 points.
