The Future Homemakers of America, or U F, H. AH as it is commonly known, is a national organization for girls and boys who wish to promote the importance of worthy home membership, to encourage democracy in home and community, and to work for good home and family for all. F. H. A. is an integral part of the home economics program. We participate in activities which will help our school. They are basketball concessions, assemblies, and sending boxes to the needy. An organization in the High School which has been quite active in the past year is the High School Band. During the summer we had Mr. Lewis Reinhard and Mr. Charlie Kreis as our Band leaders. We wish to thank them for the time they have given toward the Band. At the present the new musical director is Mr. Richard Smith from East Pittston. The Band has participated in innumerable concerts, block parties, and assemblies in the past year. A., as it is commonly known, is the national organiztion of, by, and for, boys studying vocational agricul- ture in public secondary schools under the provisions of the National Voca- tional Education Acts. The F. F. A. is an intra-curricular activity having its origin and root in a definite part of the school curriculum -vocational agriculture. Among other things, members learn through active participation how to conduct and take part in a public meeting: to speak in public: to buy and sell cooperativelyg to solve their own problems: to finance themselvesg and to assume civic respons- ibility. The foundation on which the Future Farmers of America organization is built includes leadership and character development, sportsmanship, coop- eration, thrift, service, scholarship, improved agriculture, organized recreation, citizenship and patriotism.
