CLASS HISTORY M As we march down the aisle to the strains of Hpomp and Circumstancef' we have many fond memories of the events we have enjoyed together. In our freshman year, students from adjoining districts joined us, making an enrollment of fifty-six. Class organization came with our sophomore year as we elected our class advisors and class officers. Our first activity was a soup and bake sale. Later in the year we held a hoedown called The Hop of Hearts, at which we crowned the King and Queen of Hearts. The highlight of our sophomore year was the Sophomore Hop, which was held in the early spring. ln our junior year we awaited Christmas with much anticipation because at this time our treasured class rings would arrive, We held a hoedown at which we raffled off turkeys. Rivalry grew between our class and the junior class of Tremont as we fought enthusiastically to win the newspaper contest. The wholehearted cooperation and diligent work of everyone enabled us to emerge victorious. With regret we said good-bye to our class advisor, Mr. Himmelberger, who left us to become a member of the faculty of West Read- ing High School. The crowning of the king and queen, Paul Gooey Lehman and Ethel Miller, was held in the oriental atmosphere of our junior Prom, called Tea for Two. This dance was the last event of a successful junior year. After three eventful years we finally reached our exalted position - we were seniors! This year we elected a new class advisor, Mr. Richard Smith. The first event of the year was our class play, Act Your Age, a comedy under the capable direction of Miss Garman. During our senior year we took an educational trip to Pottsville, where we saw many places of interest. On February 16, we held our last important dance. Valentines Day leaves us with many memories. Our final trip, one for which we labored since entering high school, found us enroute to Washington. Upon our return, we took leave of our classmates and teachers. Regretfully we depart from Pine Grove High School, where the good times we enjoyed together will soon be only a memory, Bravely we set out to face whatever the future holds for us, certain that the knowledge we gained in Pine Grove High School will aid us in all future endeavors. -ANNA MAE WENRICH and MAE KRAUSE. ,- 29 ,-
