Because baseball usually starts after the CARDINAL goes to press, there is no picture of the 1946 baseball team. However, the CARDINAL is glad to publish a picture of the 1945 baseball team. The Grovers started the season with wins over Cass, Branch, Port Carbon, Tremont, and tie game with Hub- ley. After Hegins had defeated Pine Grove, the Grovers came back and defeated Tremont, Branch, Cass, Hubley, Hegins, Port Carbon, and Hubley. School takes in, Our troubles begin. .Teacher's away. And so we play. Pottsville bound, And fun all around. All we ate on Thanksgiving, It's a wonder we're living. .We start out with purses fat, But by this time they're almost flat. Back to school again we come, Don't the teachers think we're dumb! .This is the time your brain really aches: Gee, what a lot of studying it takes! This day we trotted from door to door, Selling our doughnuts galore. .Thank George Washington for being born We can stay in bed this morn. We're the champs again this year, Other teams hold us in fear. St. Patty's Day gave us a chance To put on evening gowns and dance. We practiced long into the night, But come this day we had stage fright. Could anybody write a sonnet Of our seniors' Easter bonnets? On this day we hope and pray We'll be a success some day. Class Day comes but once a year, But when it's come we're glad it's here. Tonight we are the honored guests. Next year we'll be among the rest. Tonight the juniors have a hop, We hope and pray they hit the top. We stand on the stage in caps and gowns, I bet you won't see any frowns. Reservations, then we pack, Oh, such fun till we come back! v,!iI61IrX,v
