THREE YEARS IN A ROW An experienced team broke its own record by winning the championship for three consecutive years. This team started the season by winning four straight exhibition games with Lebanon and Myerstown. The team started the league by defeating Tremont, the Alumni, Branch, Hegins, Cass, Orwigsburg, Reilly, Port Car- bon, Schuylkill Haven, and Minersville, which was a total of fourteen straight victories. Then Coach Pepe's team took a heart-breaking defeat by Tremont, on the Tremont hardwood. The Grovers came roaring back to defeat Hegins, Branch, Cass, Orwigsburg, Reilly, Port Carbon, Schuylkill Haven, and Min- ersville, only to be tied with Tremont for first place in the league. Before a large crowd, Tremont defeated Pine Grove on the Pottsville court by a score of 41-39, to take the league title. Thus the season ended with Tremont Hrst, Pine Grove second, Schuylkill Haven third, and Port Carbon fourth. But then in the O'Shaughnessey Playoffs, Pine Grove defeated Rort Car- bon by a score of 53-31 and then defeated Schuylkill Haven, 30-27, to clinch the championship for three years in a row. THE TEAM ALTON NEAL-the captain of the team, who could be depended upon to come through and make points when they were most needed. GEORGE SHOLLENBERGER-a center who did a marvelous job under the bankboard. George has one more year to play and should be just as, or more, sensational next year. KENNETH MOYER-an ever-present forward who was a factor in the championship game. ROBERT HALDEMAN-a smooth-working guard who had the ability to play good games through the whole season. CHARLES DAVIS-a tall guard who always played a great defensive game as well as mak- ing important points on the offensive. IOHN SPANCAKE-an important substitute who could come through in the pinch. DALE REHRER-a substitute who could always be depended upon to do his best. THOMAS SPITTLER-another substitute who was always on hand. IACK SNYDER'-a substitute forward who will be back next year. RICHARD SCHWARTZ-a small forward who also will be back next year. NORMAN BALTHASER-a substitute guard who will be back to see plenty of action next year. L.!if57I?X.J
