The class participated in the sale of magazines and Stanley products, with proceeds going to the class trip fund. Money was also raised by the seniors who worked in the concession stands at football and basketball games. Each senior was confronted with the decision of choosing his career, and many planned to further their educa- tion by going to college. Seven seniors were named Illinois State Scholars. The award was based on ACT scores, class rank, and individual achieve- ment. Other awards and scholarships were also received by some of the out- standing students. The 1979 Prom was hosted by the Junior class in honor of the seniors. It was able to bring the students together for one last time in a social activity. Once again the Senior class traveled to Nashville, Tennessee for the class trip. Going to Opryland and the Grand Ole es was the highlight of the week- end. Finally graduation brought the seniors’ four years of high school to a close with the reflection of years gone by, the smiles and tears of today, and the challenges of the future.
