Standing: Laura Rush- ing, Sandy Bigham, Claudia Craig, Susan Henry — Co-Sponsor, Wade Graskewicz. Top: Bill Timpner, Mary Urbanek. The Pyramid Staff of 1978-79 began the year with the distribution of assign- ments. Dedication and the yearbook theme were decided prior to any layout completions. March 5 wa s designated as the first deadline of forty completed pages, followed by deadlines of April 5, May 5 and June 5. All pages were expected to be completed a week in advance of the designated deadline. The yearbook photographers were responsible for the shooting and proc- essing of all pictures needed. The entire staff, along with co-spon- sors Susan Henry and Glen Hamilton, attended the Southern Illinois School Press Association (SISPA) Conference which was held at the Student Center of Southern Illinois University on April 6. In addition to the yearbook and newspaper awards, individual awards were also presented. Russell Black received second place in the special effects category and third place for activities with photographs that he submitted to the contest. An honorable mention was given to Mary Urbanek in the copyblock category. Mrs. Henry was a member of the advisory council for the preparation of yearbooks. Year- books from area schools were on dis- play and layout and photography ses- sions were attended by the staff mem- bers. After lunch, a short film of award- winning commercials regularly shown on national and international television was presented. At the close of the school term, the Pyramid Staff and co-sponsors cele- brated with a semi-formal dinner. Grati- tude was expressed and each member was proud to be a part of the school's book of memories. The staff's school year collage is now formed with feel- ings of determination and frustration, anxiety and accomplishment, and the self-satisfaction that each human being yearns to experience.
