VOLLEYBALL A few weeks after school started volleyball began under the d1rect1on of Mr Goodman and Mr Klmball From the g1rls who were out durmg the f1rst twoweeks coaches p1cked a l1kely number tomake up the f1rst and second teams for the rema1nder of the sea son After several weeks of hard pract1ce we met Duncan on the1r court and met our f1rst defeat of the season Both teams fought hard for a v1ctory but the W1ldcats came out on top The next opponent was Thatcher at P1ma The f1nal score show ed the super1or1ty of the Roughr1ders over the Eagles The next game w1th them brought us another easy v1ctory For our next game we met V1rden on our home floor The Eagles edged out a narrow margmed v1ctory Soon afterwards Duncan 1nvaded P1ma and aga1n we fell at the m1ght strength of the Wlldcats Safford brought us another v1ctory for our record when they came to P1ma We let V1rden run away w1th the score when we met them for the second t1me were thr1llers w1th both teams neck and neck all the way The d1str1ct tournament was held 1n Thatcher November e1gh teenth w1th Thatcher Ft Thomas and P1ma part1c1pat1ng We drew Ft Thomas for our f1rst game and came out v1ctor1ous w1th a score of 18 35 Thatcher was our next opponent who bowed to g1ve us the v1ct ory that gave us the tournament and our v1ctory cup for our trophy case At the end of the year when the cup arr1ved we enjoyed a ham burger supper at the house of Coach Goodman The follow1ng g1rls made up the f1rst team G Lofgreen B Wheeler C Cluff M K1ght W Carter A Lmes J' Mor r1s S Chavez C Green E. Matt1ce Ft, Thomas brought us one victory and one defeat. Both games
