QLA55 MQIIQ nDon't Begins with Do' ELA!! QQLQBE Silver and Green QLASS FLOWER white Rose SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Twelveiyears ago the present Senior class with bright expectant faces presented itself to the first grades of various schools to explore the mysteries of Readin', Ritein', and Ritmatic. .Of ,the first graders who started, only ten remain---Donna Winch, Mildred Waite, Verdene Thies, Lois Tietjen, Gerald Musser, Marlene Mcmani- gal, Margie Jones, Joyce Karel, Phyllis Heller, and Darwin Asch. Our tedious Journey through the grades brought us the following new additions to our bright and cheery little group ---- Gloria La Noue, Anna Mae Tomka, Kenneth Rood, and Hubert Bernthal. After going through the usual trials and tribulations of ele- mentary students ---- quarrels, pranks, and punishments--- 2M lively Freshmenfrlnally, entered Pilger high school. we were all very green, but green things grow, and we were so eager to learn tnat our development has been astonishing. We soon learned the reason for the Seniors being so glad to see us ---- for Initiation Day came all too soon. We posed as quite a ludicrous bunch garbed in the apparel of comic strip characters. Miss Ada Schmidt was our sponsor during this first year. Those who left our happy throng during the year were Twyla Gibson, and Orvan Leushen. we entered our Sophomore year with one new face--that of Earl Stoakes. This was another year which we enjoyed to the fullest. Our sponsor was Miss Edna Mae Howell. The Sophomore class was represented at the Jr.-Sr. Banquet that year by having the follow- ing serve as waiters and waitresses: Earl Stoakes, Darwin Asch, Robert Ramm, Joyce Karel, Phyllis Heller, and Donna Winch. We began our Junior year with the loss of three membersg these being Earl Stoakes, Hubert Bernthal, and Shirley Weichenthgl. Our play, WNo Bride for the Groomn under the direction of Mr. eterson wasgpresented two consecutive nights bringing in a sizable profit. We says a most successful Junior Senior Banquet under the guidance of rs. Aipperspach, our sponsor that year. Much effort was put forth in gathering quaint old bottles and jugs to hold flickering candles. This illumination served to best advantage for our pirate scene. The banquet was climaxed with a dance inlthe gym at which all the lads and lasses took pride in 3h0w1ng'Efffheir new formalg and suits. ' In September, as Seniors, we entered school with a new dignity befitting our classification. Our membership finally climbed to an even twenty with the addition of Marilyn Hill. Our play,HThe Gold Flamen under the direction of Mr. Peterson, was presented April 21 and 22 before a large and appreciative audience. The proceeds from this and from the movie we sponsored gave us suf- ficient funds, to carry us through Wsneak dayn and graduation. This long awaited day, sneak day thifyis, finally arrived on April 29 1949. Our twelve years came to an end with BaccalaureateCMay 87 and CommencementCMay 123. Our class was a class of peaches and a peach of a class. We will always be grateful to our parents and teachers for making it possible for us to arrive at this junction of our educational career.
